A Nice Trip!

My family and I made plans to attend Winterfest in Hawley Pennsylvania. One of the things to do was take a 45-minute train ride with the jolly one himself. The train that was nicely decorated and heated left the train station for a little winter fun. The folks operating the tour were pleasant and informative all the way down to... More

My wife & I took the Fall Foliage train ride last week. The train left downtown Honesdale, PA around 1:PM & returned at 4:30 PM. Overall, it was a very relaxing ride for a reasonable cost at $25.00 per person. We were disappointed the way the train ride was narrated. There was no speaker system, just a lady pointing out... We opted for the "Fireman’s Picnic" excursion to and from Lackawaxen with a 1.5 hour layover in Lackawaxen for a “picnic”. The layover featured food & drink items available for purchase (and benefiting) the local fire company which is NOT included in the price of the train ticket. The train travels along the Lackawaxen River with a wonderful view if... More

A relaxing ride on a beautiful summer day on a fully restored passenger train along the Lackawaxen River. The staff and volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the train service. Highly recommend for all ages.

The passenger coaches have been lovingly restored. New paint. Very clean. Friendly knowledgable conductor and volunteers. We went to Lackawaxen. Beautiful scenery. A relaxing way to spend a morning. Not sure it's good for small children. They might find it boring.

Today we rode the Stourbridge Rail Excursion. It was a lovely ride on a great old coach car. I must say that it was the CLEANEST and best restored 1920 Pennsylvania RR coach car. The staff was very nice and pleasant. Although it was extremely hot outside, with the window open and "natural air conditioning" the inside temperature was okay.... More

Great way to spend a morning or afternoon. The ride is app. 2 hrs. and you are transported in restored antique cars, pulled by an antique locomotive. The locomotive is the last operable on of its kind. The conductor gave a lot of useful info during the two hour trip. Everyone was very friendly and appeared genuinely happy that we... More

$15 for a slow train ride to a place where I can drive for free isn't worth 1/8 of my paycheck. Honesdale businesses would better attract local shoppers by bringing employment here to town instead.
