Dating back to the Ching dynasty, the Family Zhang’s Garden is a large complex of 237 households and over 90 percent still bear a common family name of Zhang. there are many courtyards and public buildings. The locals, a large single family of the Han people convene regularly, a few still live in the complex. Worth a visit en route... More

This whole town belonged to one big extended family: the Zhang's. At the first house we passed, we paid the 3 yuan to go inside (collected by the owner). This is 张家花园 Zhang Jia Hua Yuan and it's part of 团山村 Tuan Shan Village, 15 or 20 kilometers west of Jianshui, out in the hills. (It is not to be confused with Zhu Jia Hua Yuan, which is inside Jianshui Old Town.) It used to have flowers, but has now been paved over for use as a basketball court... More

I liked it as a part of the whole scenic area. The old people's "parliament in the shade by the bank of the pond is very colorful even its dame humid & hot.
