Enjoyed reading about specific local people, seeing the Dobcross loom, models of Rushcart and Castleshaw Roman camp. Would have liked to read more about the railway and canal. In addition to the space of the art gallery there is also wall space for local art work in the museum.

Until I visited the museum I was not aware of the richness and history of the Saddleworth area. This is a good place for all ages.

Very small but fascinating museum of the history of this area including old weaving equipment, and photographs from the past.

It now features a range of interactive displays and knowledge of history of the area. Welcoming all ages with disabled access, lift and community events on site. Saddleworth museum closed the 28th June 2015 for... More

The renovation of Saddleworth Museum took a year I believe, but what a transformation. Crammed with so much information and artifacts and incorporating old and modern technology, this is an intriguing place for residents of Saddleworth and visitors new to the area. We particularly liked the 3 dimensional model of Standedge Tunnel and the digital photo albums. There is a... More

Great local history museum in the centre of Uppermill. Although there are only two galleries downstairs and one up you get a very condensed history of the area in the space that is available. Your only going to be spending around an hour in here but it's well worth a visit. The only downside I found was as there is... More

Fantastic small local museum. Well set out, and welcoming. Workshops provided. When me and mum visited I made myself a Friend of the Museum as I will certainly be visiting this museum again. So many interesting things to look at from the past. Very interesting artefacts.
