Bridlington Old Town is fascinating. The late C18 and early C19 buildings of Westgate and High Street (of 'Dad's Army' fame) are delightful and may be unique. The suggested 'tourist route' ends at the Priory Church, which is worth a visit in itself. It is a church with an interesting history told in a 'Bayeux' tapestry along the north aisle.

A delightful church with a lovely interior. Apart from the services of worship one would expect there are often concerts and artistic or historical displays going on.

We stopped off in the Old Town Bridlington and walked across to the priory as we spotted a church open sign. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who welcomed us to the church explained a bit about the history and gave us a leaflet with more information. We were left to have a walk through the church and... More

From towering outer to delicate inner, Bridlington Priory is heritage at its best. An ancient building that tells so much history, well presented.

The original building(s) must have been very impressive indeed. The Church that still stands is magnificent and has some beautiful stained glass windows. It was also deeply satisfying to see the Church being used for an award ceremony on a Saturday - so often you wander into these magnificent buildings and they are only used for Church services. It is... More

Been visiting Bridlington for years and have never got beyond the town along the beach. This outstanding church is jaw dropping, so, so striking. If you have time (and can walk as it isn't that close to the Bridlington most people know) you must visit. Look for the mice and the Charles & Camilla corbel.

A striking building, well worth a visit. The enormous west window is one of many beautiful features; the guide leaflet pointed out the external features (which, as it was cool and breezy, we did not explore) as well as the inside, and the amount of historical interest is fascinating. There were two very knowledgeable and sociable ladies on duty in... More
