A great 13th century circular keep standing on an earlier Norman mound, atop a high spur beside the River Fowey. Twice visited by the Black Prince, it finally saw action during the Civil War. Commanding fantastic views, it makes an excellent picnic spot. Child friendly and dog friendly.

We visited Restormel at the end of the day - around 4pm - and apart from the sheep in the neighbouring field were the only other visitors. At first we thought we had taken a wrong turn as the winding narrow Road to the castle...More

An interestingly designed shell keep, this ruin is worth the challenging drive up one-lane streets on the side of the hill. There is parking at the top, though, so those who park over a mile away are wasting their efforts (unless that is what they...More

Our trip stared in the rain, but once that had gone it was a good morning out. Great views from the top, but if wet, beware of slippery wooden steps to the higher parts. Good knowledgeable staff.

Family and dog friendly. This English Heritage castle is small and well presented. Small gift shop is well presented and stocked. Staff friendly. NB: no cafe on site, but excellent Duchy of Cornwall tea room close by.

Visited this castle yesterday, yes it didn't open on time and we had to wait, but the lovely staff member was very apologetic and offered discounted or even FREE entry to those who had to wait the longest. I loved seeing the castle, there were...More

It didn't impress me much, a long walk up steep hills to be greeted by an entrance fee... Views lovely if u can get your breath back from the hike

The ruins itself was lovely and the views were stunning. Got some great pictures. However, we arrived at the opening time (10am) to get a space because it's a relatively small car park (about 25 spaces). But... the gate wasn't open for cars or people....More

It would have been about £4 each but as we joined English Heritage that day, it was included in our membership fees.
