There are wonderful walks on LHI for walkers of all abilities. The famous Mount Gower trek to 840m in the Cloud Forest above the Pacific Ocean is Grade 5 Amazing but is dependent on suitable weather, and only with a licenced guide in a group....More

This trail is amazing, and a bit dangerous, we were 15 people. There were different fitness levels, we all completed the trail at the end of the day, but strongly suggest you train a bit before going up. The mount has around 800mt and the...More

Each walk involves a little effort but is rewarded with a lovely view. I found Mutton Bird Point Lookout the most interesting and Goat House Cave the most challenging, but if you can climb up there then you are fit enough for Mt.Gower!

Fro the ocean shores up to the top on Goat Cave mountain (that's as best I could do) the unique flora and birdlife is simply overwhelming. Just beautiful, pristine and pleasurable to walk through.

The guided climb/hike up Mt Gower was definitely the highlight, not for anyone who is scared of heights and definitely take some bike riding type gloves to protect your hand as there is a lot of rope climbs

Do you need full leather walking boots for Lord Howe Island, or would sturdy walking shoes (not leather) suffice?

Boots would be best but unless climbing Gower or the Goat House. Sneakers would be fine.
Did anyone get Leeches on their walks?

Being a small island there'll be changes in the weather within a day. It can shower on & off then be sunny. If it's windy on one side or one end then it will be better on the other side. A spray-jacket is useful. Quoting... More
