We were waiting for our tour to start and one of our party started feeling nauseated, dizzy and chills. We immediately left the building and she felt much better. Maybe a spirit trying to attach itself to her ???

Sorry you didn't get to stay and take the tour. Perhaps you'll return and try again so you can hear the history of the jail and the men who were hanged here. . Yes, many people feel uncomfortable and have strange and eerie things happen when in the Old Jail. Most likely the spirits make themselves known in different ways.... More

Sure you were disappointed that you were not able to take the tour of the Old Jail Museum. Yes, the building is beautiful; built in 1871 and used as a prison until 1995. Tours will resume next Memorial Day weekend. See you in Jail - the Old Jail, of course. More

Although a little further walk up Broadway then the rest of the main stores and eateries, we were glad we walked up to see a part of history! The guide was very informative and you definitely get an eerie feel when walking through. I enjoyed finding the beauty in the wrought iron staircase with the beautiful rich wood railings that... Pleased to hear you not only enjoyed your tour of the Old Jail but could appreciate the beautiful workmanship of the whole building. We presume the beautiful wood staircase and ornate doors in the warden's original living area were a reflection of the status of the warden in 1871 when the Jail was built. See you in Jail - the... We have been to the Old Jail several times before. It is always interesting and we seem to learn additional things each time we go! The owner is very knowledgeable if she happens to be there. Today's tour was a little rushed; perhaps nearing the end of the day and the end of the season. We noticed other tours went... More

Always glad to have you visit the Old Jail and learn a bit more history on each visit. Going into the visitors yard is not part of the daily tours. Because of the extremely large number of people visiting the Old Jail on the day you came, we added an extra tour at the end of the day which meant... More

Our guide shared lots of history and inmate stories. The Warden's family's rooms had been converted into administrative areas. The dungeon is a dark, musky place. Reproduced hanging gallows were on display.

I went on the history tour and had a wonderful time. The tour guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. I think it is wonderful that they employ teenagers as tour guides. I was able to take many pictures and learn a lot about the town and the jail. I also learned so much about the Molly McGuire's.

Thanks for the great comments and so very glad you enjoyed your tour of the Old Jail. Yes, it was a busy weekend but everyone waiting in line was so pleasant and cheerful, it made the waiting better for everyone. Hope we see you in Jail again - perhaps when it's not so crowded in Jim Thorpe. More
