Noted in National Geographic Traveler for its superb acoustics, the 1881 Opera House was an important stop on the old Vaudeville circuit. Today's schedule is diverse, from folk, rock, classical, and jazz. Recent renovations include a new steel roof, sound system and theater seats. Relaxed, intimate and all seats have a great view. The Opera House is located in the heart of Jim Thorpe's historic district, just a quick stroll to pubs, restaurants, lodging and shops.

What a great venue. Loved this place. Super friendly locals and the band was out of this world. Oh and the drinks were strong! Lol. Highly recommend.

We made an unplanned visit to the Mauch Chunk Opera House where we caught a recording of the local podcast variety show, 40 Story Radio Tower. It was the perfect compliment to enjoying being in Jim Thorpe for the Christmas season. The opera house itself...More

During a recent daytrip getaway, my wife and I happened to attend a show at this venue. Intimate and welcoming, the the Opera House is a great place to see an act. The drinks were priced reasonably. We would see another act here again.

Acoustically, they are all good. If you want a great overall view, balcony seats are great, too but truly, tutti soon benissimo! Spero vederli!
