When traveling through Lancaster, we found that our travels took us by here quite unexpectedly. We were glad as this was a very nice place to visit. Worth the stop. Friendly folks to greet you and answer your questions.

We had a large group so the tour took about 1 1/2 hours. There were lots of questions and the guide was very knowledgeable. I could have stayed all day to listen to the stories. Unlike many historic homes that limit you to a rope...More

Not knowing much about president Buchanan, this tour of his well-preserved home was informative. The house was lovely and a good time capsule for his mid 1800's time. Nancy gave us a great and balanced tour. The visitor's center was interesting. It is run In...More

President Buchanan relied on family members to run the White House, had a crazy pompadour hairdo, and believed in a small role for the federal government. He was a man of his times, not highly regarded by history since the Civil War began on his...More

Wheatland is a very nice tour for those who are curious about American history and James Buchanan. It's no Monticello but the docents are very knowledgeable and the tour is quite interesting. I'd not take kids under 10 here unless they are history buffs.
