The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, established in 1861, is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. As of August 2007, the site is under new ownership. The bakery and store have been completely renovated and are now operated once again by the Sturgis family. Visitors can tour the original pretzel bakery, see soft pretzels being made by hand, and find pretzels baked by the oldest pretzel baking family in the United States.

If you are into pretzels, it's an interesting tour. There is a section of the tour smaller kids can participate in, rolling the dough.

Another Unique Pennsylvania treat! The nation's oldest hard pretzel factory- and are they Good! Take the tour to learn more about pretzels than you knew there was to know! Make your own pretzel, and take home a free bag. Great fun!

The tour does not take long and just seeing the inside of this building was worth the small price for the tour. Our guide was informative and funny. It is a great tour for young and old and the gift shop is great.

Tour the small facility and make a soft pretzel, or save the $3.50 and buy one out front. These pretzels are warm. There are also bags of pretzels and souvenirs for purchase.
