People's Light, a professional, not-for-profit theatre in Chester County, makes plays drawn from many sources to entertain, inspire, and engage our community. We extend our mission of making and experiencing theatre through arts education programs that excite curiosity about, and deepen understanding of, the world around us. These plays and programs bring people together and provide opportunities for reflection, discovery, and celebration. Founded in 1974, we produce eight to nine plays each season, in two black box theatres with 340 and 160 seats respectively, mixing world premieres, contemporary plays, and fresh approaches to classic texts for our 7-Play, Discovery, and Teen Series.

The holiday panto is always a great show and a real favorite of our family! We have seen regular season shows over the years and enjoyed them as well. The theatre has a real community focus and the talent in all aspects for production we have seen is top notch!

We have been subscribers to this theatre since we moved to the area in 2014. We have never been disappointed. Excellent venue with no bad seats. Great customer service from the box office to the person who runs refreshments. The caliber of the productions have really been wonderful. And it's affordable!

We went with two other couples to see the production of The Mountaintop. We all loved it and got to meet the playwright! The theater seats were very comfortable. There is a small snack and drink table in the lobby. This was the first time at this theater for us. We will be back for future performances.

I have really enjoyed being a season ticket holder for the past few years. Peoples Light and Theatre has something for everyone; original plays, musicals, drama, classics. Students can attend for reduced prices when tickets are purchased the day of the show. They are really accommodating to season ticket holders who need to change dates. Check them out!

Two couple's date night turned into a foot stomping, hand clapping evening of Johnny Cash songs in the refined and sedate area of the Main Line. It is not often that one sees a reserved Philadelphia audience hoot and holler and give a standing ovation to the cast, as did the guests for the play "Ring of Fire." The music... More

This is a wonderful place for summer camp. They have a two week camp. We paid $450 if you get your friends kids to sign up. You get a discounted rate. We dropped them at 9 and pick them up by 3. At the end of two weeks they performed a little skit. They made dioramas, write their own lines,... More

This theatre is a first-rate professional theatre in the suburbs. It successfully competes with the many professional theatres in Philadelphia. The center of the theatre is their long-time equity company joined by visiting actors, directors, scenic artists. Their productions are a combination of classic and new work and have received Barrymore Rewards, the Philadelphia theatre awards. Great Christmas Panto, a... More

Most recently I saw People's Light's 'Sense & Sensibility' and very much enjoyed it. From the costumes, to the sets, to the actual cast on stage, everything is done truly delightfully. The lobby is a beautiful old farmhouse, and they sell giant tasty baked goods at intermission. There are two theatres on the property, and a stand alone restaurant. I've... More
