I've been going to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History since I was a child and it has never gotten old. The museum has many things to offer to both children and those still young at heart. Dinosaurs are always a hit when visiting a...More

I've been to this museum several times and always find something interesting that I missed before. Some areas, like the rows and rows of stuffed birds, are rather sad in that the birds are simply labeled and quite old. It looks like a taxidermist's shop...More

This was a high-end museum with very user-friendly exhibits. The prehistoric animals and mineral wings were extensive. Military get a discount, which was nice. I hadn't expected much despite the fact that Carnegie had an interest in dinosaurs, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Pace yourself and plan on a full day. There are many excellent exhibits here. The gem and mineral section by itself was a surprise and a delight - really beautiful displays. The dinosaur exhibit was world class (as expected). And the art museum is also...More

This place is deceptively LARGE! Just when you finish one floor, there's another floor...or another wing...or another exhibit in another hall! SOOO much to see and learn and interact with. Our favorite of course are the dinosaurs and the fossils/gems. Could spend an entire day...More

Exhibits easily rival the Smithsonian in Washington DC. Incredible variety: rocks, minerals, dinosaurs, stuffed birds & artic mammals. Spent 3 hours there & still missed the Egyptian & 3 other exhibits. I would gladly return if in Pittsburgh again.
