Hi! We're having a great time at Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and the only thing missing is you. MAKESHOP, our tinkering space, has real tools and materials such as wood, sewing machines, hammers, nails, a loom, animation station and more. Jump right in, that circuit isn't going to build itself! The Art Studio is calling for your creative energy to design and ink a silkscreen, paint, sculpt clay and create something unique alongside the many working artists who visit. Young ones, you are royalty in the Nursery, a space filled with colors, shapes and textures perfect for your growing minds and bodies. The Attic, Garage and Waterplay (because it's just not fun until your underwear is soaked) round out the permanent exhibits. But not so fast. From marching bands, slam poets and cultural traditions to letters that fall from the ceiling and a crawling maze made out of packing tape, our temporary exhibits, performers, programs, artists-in-residence and artwork are particularly awesome too. If we don't hear the protests of departing kids at the end of each day, we're not doing our jobs right.

We took our toddler on a weekend visit and were a little shocked at how crowded the museum gets. For our particular little one, she was overwhelmed by the amount of people and kids scrambling on top of each other. There is a lot to do, especially for kids more school age (I.e, building stuff, experimenting with things). In retrospect,... More

We have been members of the Pittsburgh Children's Museum for several years now and absolutely love it! My 4 year old and I go a couple times a month and she never gets bored with it. I love that they have a dedicated room that changes a few times a year. My daughter always looks forward to checking it out... More

Take your time here... There is so much to do and to discover! Several things would have been easy to miss if we would just breeze through. Younger kids having a fabulous time! My older ones (age 11 & 13) are finding things to do in between their complaints that this place is not age appropriate for them. They are... More

This is a great destination for toddlers and young children. It has many interactive play areas where they can build things, experiment and create art. It has a large water play area and a few science exhibits. Unfortunately, it does not have a lot to offer for older children (over 8 or 9 years old) They are likely to find... More

This is a children's science museum. Plenty of hands on experience for children . Young ones loved it . I have to agree that I doubt 13 years and older would enjoy it. There is a plus for poor and low income family's at this museum that I didn't see mentioned.. If you present a access card you get admission... More

There is so much to do here it is a blast! There is fun for anybody of any age here. Hands on fun for the kids, but peppered with plenty of fun for adults as well.

I went while on vacation and thought it was awesome and definitely measures up to a few other ones that we frequent in our home time. I was shocked to see that the water exhibit was not only interactive but that you actually could play entirely in the water. We enjoyed the art exhibit and the area with the slide... More

Our 10 year old spent several hours in here and complained she didn't have enough time! Interavive museums always rate high with me and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed trying it all.

The exhibits are really well done. There is a Mr. Rodgers theme throughout the museum (with items such as his old sweaters on display), which is cool for parents. I recommend bringing water clothes and a change of clothes so your kids can enjoy the water exhibits on the top floor of the museum.
