Too many young children on weekday and closed off renovation of rainforest exhibit. We felt this big part of the aviary being omitted should have resulted in a discount. We did enjoy the birds that were seen but the aviary is kinda small for a...More

My sister-in-law has lived all her life in Pittsburgh but had never been here, so I thought it would be a fun day out. (My third trip.) Currently, the Aviary is refurbishing the rain forest room so some of the birds were not on display...More

Stopped here with our kids while visiting Pittsburgh. Definitely worth checking out if you have kids (ours are 8, 6 and 2). There is a parking lot ($5 for your visit), but it is pretty small. There is plenty of street parking available as well....More

Great fun to see beautiful and exotic birds up close. The aviary also presents a lot of written information about the birds, always with a focus on conservation and the health of the species. I did not see anyone reading these, and I must admit...More

We visited during renovations so literally half of the facility was off limits. It was quite expensive for what you got and the extras are really pricey. The demonstrations are hard to hear and geared toward young kids. They aren't the most informative for adults....More

We visited the National Aviary during our first anniversary trip, and we really enjoyed our time there. Parking costs $5, so be aware of that before visiting. We bought the general admission passes with the two bird feedings, which cost around $50 for 2 people,...More

OK - I gleefully agree admit to the label of birder so what is not to love about walking into a room where you can be face-to-face (er beak) with birds from all over the world? But my husband (who has never participated in a...More

This was the highlight of my trip over St Patrick’s weekend! Great for families with kids or just anyone who is interested in birds! Really cool exhibits and the building is laid out so that you can easily guide yourself through. Worth every penny and...More

It was a different type of outing; I'm not that crazy about birds but I think it is a great place to take your children. We enjoyed the movie about the birds in the Amazon.

If you have young children and are visiting Pgh. the Aviary is a must. It is interesting to both young & old.

I have taken a large group through and you could do all of the exhibits in 2 hours. But you could stay longer if you take in one of the bird shows.

We had the owl encounter at my son's wedding. The trainer brought the owl from table to table during dinner. I did not see anyone touch it, just the trainer holding the owl and photos taken with it.
