Cabins were simple but nice just to have some heat during the colder months. Restrooms are outdoors with no heat. (Doable but keep that in mind lookin at temps). Hiking trails were well kept and fun. It was hunting season, so be sure to bring...More

Come on now, if you really understand what this park is it is one of the coolest. Very broad areas of rock deposited by glaciers. Deep bed of rocks. Been going here since a young boy and never dug down below the rocks. Its an...More

Mrs. Broderipii and I made our last 2017 Pennsylvania State Park picnic stop at Hickory Run in early October. We were there on a weekday so the park was largely empty and we had our choice of picnic tables. The picnic area at Hickory Run...More

We took our motorhome here and paid for a week. In September it was nearly empty. The park ranger told us this was definitely the down time. The leaves hadn’t changed yet. When they change the park gets full.

I like boulder field. It’s a cool geological feature that’s worth the visit. You can hike up to it on a trail or drive up to it within a 50 ft walk. You can walk on the boulders and read about how they were formed....More

Hickory Run State Park is my favorite Hiking Location. Maintained trails - Hawk Falls (water fall), Boulder Field geological formation. Numerous creeks and river access available. Organized camping. Nature workshops. Sandy Beach in season. Ranger station with trail maps. Fishing hot spots. First time I...More

The biggest turnoff of the smaller fall/winter campground here is the lack of privacy between campsites. I'm used to other Pennsylvania state parks that provide a buffer of trees between campsites (like Ricketts Glen, French Creek, and Worlds End), where it's easy to feel like...More

This is a neat place. There are lots of dirt roads that go on and on. There's a lot of good trees here and dark forests. We were fortunate to see a bear roaming around a road here and then back into the woods. Of...More

Boulder field was a really cool place to see, and to actually climb out on the rocks. Spent some time at some of the lakes, and taking sunset photos.
