This is no doubt the best beach in RI. Narragansett Town Beach is in a beautiful spot ...........The Pier! There is always so much going on there. We recently viewed the traditional prelude to the Quonset Air Show there. The beach is always wonderful no matter what....in good weather and fowl. Some folks travel here to see the powerful waves... Also known as town beach, surfing is allowed, board rentals and lessons are available. They have facilities, restaurants, but it is very busy.

It is a good RI beach if you get there early ( 8 am ). It fills up fast, and parking later is a nightmare.

I've only been to Narragansett Beach in the off-seasons (fall, winter and spring) so I can't speak to the summer, but I love the off-season. It's a great beach to walk and pick up the occasional small shell. The views are beautiful. Parking is free and generous. The drive along the water is gorgeous too. It's well worth visiting when... Can't really say too much about the area as it was a little cool this time of the year for our visit. Lighthouse area was very rocky with rough waters that the surfers seemed to like. Tough to walk to the beach from here as there is a steep drop off. For a good beach, try the public areas with... More

Never been to this part of Rhode Island before, but we found ourselves with a few hours to burn, so we headed to Narragansett. Quintessential New England coastal town. The homes and architecture have that look and feel. It's beautiful. We didn't walk the beach as there were quite a few people there out for a stroll even though it... More

This town is famous for the beach, the surfing, the rich old mansions on the water, the seafood! This last item brings so many visitors here! But we have to add the great restaurants, the small boutique stores and all the people that make this town so alive!

My grandmother lives here so every summer we come down and spend 1 to 2 weeks at the beach. This beach has HUGE waves and great for surfing/boogie boarding. Also at the end of the beach is a current which you can bring a raft and float on it till the end. This beach has "dels" which is well known... More
