The Biomes Center is New England's only private marine education facility and the most hands-on aquarium in the region. We've been providing interactive marine biology programs for schools and families since 1989.

We specialize in teaching children and adults about the marine animals of Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

We offer public hours, special events, classes, field trips, in-class programs, and birthday parties.

I bought a membership for my family and in a matter of 4 weeks it's already paid for itself. There's quite a diverse selection of interesting exhibits. We typically spend at least 90 minutes here. The skate feedings and puffer fish demo are favorites - Great for rainy days!

I missed my son like crazy while I was away on business so I took the day off (once I got back) to spend time with him. At first I drove over to the Providence childrens museum but the parking lot was full to the brim plus its generally over crowded and my son needs to wait to play in... More

We went here last weekend for a birthday party and we both (my child and I) really enjoyed it! There were so many fish to see and look at, and so many participative activities as well! My daughter who is 5 wasn't as excited as I was for the activities, but she really enjoyed the center! Petting a shark, stingray,... More

Biomes is a fantastic, hands on facility that is highly educational. The owner is a true expert in marine life and has done a wonderful job developing an educational center for people of all ages. Excellent experience.

The saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover," is just what you'll say when you've entered Biomes from the understated location. The site is very large and includes educational spaces, reading space, many, many hands-on activities including live animals. There's a lot to see. Take your time and don't hesitate to ask questions. The associates are happy to talk... More

I was one of the mom's present at the gift shop when you came in, left and then came back again suddenly confrontational. You're account of this interaction is highly inaccurate. i would recommend Biomes to anyone unconditionally.... My son and I frequently visit there. He loves it and has learned more there then at any other aquarium.

We went there after our child received a card for a free entry at the location listed. We drove 45min to the location. Once inside I was already disappointed. It is set-up like a pet store and overall ambiance is not what is expected. The owner proceeds to mark our card and states that each person would receive $2 off... More

It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is awesome for kids and adults. I actually prefer it to Mystic Aquarium because this is more hands on. You can pet sand sharks, skates, etc and they allow you to feed them at feeding time. A big hit with the kids and parents. Definitely pleasantly surprised

This is a marine educational center/aquarium that looks deceptively small and blah from the outside. However, once inside, you are blown away by the array of sea life on exhibit. We had gone to the New England Aquarium a few days earlier in Boston, and hands down, we spent more time here and the kids enjoyed this place more. There... More

Great educational place for both kids and adults. I thoroughly enjoyed chaperoning the school field trip there. I would recommend it for all ages.
