We were treated to essentially a private tour, as we were the only visitors on a rainy Thursday morning in October. Our guide, Carl, knew his stuff and was an excellent host, keen to demonstrate the machinery and show us the water wheel in action....More

Slater Mill Museum is a gem: it does history in the most interesting ways. The tour is tremendously informative without being boring or stuffy. Most important, you will learn more than you could imagine about the central role Southern slavery and cotton played in the...More

My husband and I often ride our bikes to Slater Mill. While this is a small place, it's pretty fascinating to see how the industrial age got started in America. Makes you realize how far we've come with worker safety and mechanization. This is a...More

Cool place to go to see how old Pawtucket used to operate. Interesting place to take the family, especially some younger/preteen kids, to show them how things used to get done.

I've been to Slater Mill both in a regular tour and ghost tours. I loved the place. Being from a textile manufacturing background, Slater Mill was just a real education. One might think that it was just awful that kids worked there, but at the...More

Pawtucket is loaded with old mills. It's nice to see this one restored and keeping the history of the area. You can see how the water was used in the mills for power. Interesting and quaint place by the river.
