many people, myself included, head to Watch Hill for many reason not the least of which is watching the kids and their joy on this Carousel from another century--literally. The horse I rode as a kid is still there...still seemingly untouched...and that was 60 years...More

These are flying horses, dating from the Civil War era. Note they swing out, not up and down, so kids need to be old enough to hold themselves securely on the horses. Rudimentary seat strap does little to secure the riders. Lots of kiddy fun,...More

Didn't even know of this attraction until walking to the lighthouse. Unique and old amusement ride that can be observed and appreciated in minutes.

My fiancé is from westerly. We went back with her sister in law to recreate a photo taken of the two of them in front of the Carousel 55 years ago. The fun is still there. Worth the visit.

This is a historic "flying horse" carousel. Great fun for kids. The horses are elevated over the ground unlike other carousels where the horse is attacked to a platform. Kids pull on rings and whoever gets the brass ring gets a prize (it used to...More

This carousel is the local landmark. It is one of the things in Westerly that my kids grew up with. Who never forget riding a horse by the beach, even if it is a fake one! Beautifully colored horses, fun ride!

Just happened to be in town and decided to look around and bumped into this. It is a living, working piece of history. If you're looking for safe and new this isn't it. There are some basic safety measures but it's as close to original...More

Our 4 yr old enjoyed his ride. Fun stop after the beach. Good to note that this is not a carousel parents can ride with their child as their is no bottom floor. The horses are suspended from the top.

I go out of the country searching for a wonderful carousels. What a huge disappointment to arrive at this teeny tiny decrepitude carousel after all the hype. The horses are so tiny that no one over the age of 10 can possibly set on them....More

I do not believe there is a minimum age, I have seen parents standing along side of the horse to guide the child in the experience when the age is younger.
