Matthew, and now Irma did not bring her down. The view from the top will still be of a beautiful and natural undeveloped island. Watch for the park's opening in 2018.☀😎🌴🏖🏊

Some of the original lighthouse keepers building are on the property for you to go into and view. The lighthouse is great and the view is even better! It's 167 steps but there is a landing every 19 steps for you to take a rest,...More

A beautiful lighthouse and beach right next to it. If you are in the area, go see it. If you go later on in the evening, the sunset will make it even prettier than in regular daylight. The beach is very nice right at the...More

Worth the walk up 167 steps! The view of the barrier islands is amazing. Hard to believe the keeper had to carry 50lbs of oil up the stairs.

I climbed this thing with my kids ages 12, 10, 8, and 6. They had no problem climbing, other than some unease when they looked down. My six year old climbed twice in a row! She did this because children under 42" are not allowed...More

This lighthouse has been closed to the public since hurricane Matthew. It has been reopened recently and visitors can again walk to the top. It will be even better when they get the park cleaned up so visitors can enjoy the entire park.

Fun walking up all the steps and looking through the small windows as you circle to the top. The sites from the top were very fascinating and enjoyable.

Beautiful state park and beach - lots of flooding on the roads but rangers were out in force. Easy parking and showers upon beach exit.

We stay on Harbor Island which is next to Hunting Island; and when the tide is really out you can walk from Harbor to Hunting Island. Great area to watch brown pelican.

As I understand the the lighthouse is fine, but the fence around it didn't survive. The island is devastated all the infastructure needs rebuilt. The only part of the island open is at the pier. .

Built in 1870s as one of the first segmented cast iron lighthouses. Very impressive. Grounds also have other historical structures to visit. My whole family ages 42-6 enjoyed it. Beautiful place to picnic or enjoy the beach... More
