As with any cemetery, you are respectful. Viewing this National site makes you think of the history in front of you and the people living and dying during such. It is good for any American to make this visit. You should visit if in Beaufort.

Small national cemetery with Union and Confederate soldiers plus veterans from all the other wars. Well kept, peaceful and easy to walk to from Bay Street.

I really enjoyed learning about all the history behind this cemetery and Beaufort. This entire town is beautiful. I liked going during Christmas time because of all the wreaths.

Beautiful grounds for the final resting place for people who have served out country. Some very old headstones--18th and 19th century represented throughout, as well at 20th and 21st centuries. Beautiful trees.

I am not an expert on cemeteries but this was a meaningful experience. Dedicated to the men and women who served our nation. From the Civil War to present. Very solemn and tastefully preserved. Makes you appreciate the sacrifices by the hundreds buried here.

Regrettably, there is no public transportation linking southern (Hilton Head) and northern (Beaufort), county that I am aware of.
