Great day trip for those on Hilton Head. Great stay for those who like the low country. The city and this street are just a pleasant time. Stores are varied and good to visit. The restaurants are great for the low country cuisine,

Bay street is the place to be for many eclectic eateries and shops. From steak to seafood and ice cream it has it all. A stroll through the art galleries and antique shops is a must and you will find many Gullah items for view and purchase. It is just a nice stroll down the street with something for everyone.

Beaufort is not the town I remember. It has become a tourist destination. All the shops on Bay street sell tourist type gifts.

We loved walking around bay street, seeing the water and boats on one side and amazing architecture on the other. Plus many shops and restaurants in the area. Be prepared to pay for parking in most places. Ave. $1 a hour. But you can find limited free parking if you're willing to walk in from the water side of the... More

Bay Street has cute shops, and nice restaurants, mist of which have nice bars. That's not to say they're trashy, all are well appointed, and professionally staffed. The issue with Bay Street is parking is limited and entered. The second issue I saw was that it's got two and a half blocks of storefronts and restaurants and that's about it... More

Bay Street is downtown heart of the historic district of Beaufort with lots of great shops and restaurants. Don't forget to feed your parking meter though..hours go into the night..they do NOT end at 5 like many places.

Wonderful island flavor. Rhett's gallery is a must see store. Saddened to see that Fordham Market closed. Barefoot Bubbas is a great shop for souvenirs as is Finders Keepers.
