A Bluffton Landmark

When friends come to visit, we always like taking them to see this historic church along the May River. Go just before sunset for the best views.

OK - been going to HHI and Bluffton for years. It was only when I read a review on this site did I even KNOW to find and go to this site. It was so worth it. The grounds are immaculate, overlooking the water (May River), large trees (for the most part, Hurricane Matthew left them unscathed). Upon entering the... More

Pretty Protestant church on the best lot in Bluffton. The outside is charming and the inside is beautiful. The pink coral color of the windows and interior plaster cast a warm light that makes even the ugliest bride look good.

The Union troops knew this place was special when they spared the church from fire during the Civil War. From the beautiful outside and grounds to the spectacular inside, this is a place worth spending time in. Go when there is a docent present and embrace the history of this holy place. Go near sunset and witness one of the... More

Situated at the end of Calhoun Street, on a bluff overlooking the May River, the Church of the Cross offers a lovely setting just to walk around and admire the view. The doors are rarely open, but if you are lucky enough (or plan it right) to visit when the church is not locked, you will be able to step... More

Beautiful old Church right on May River in Old Towne Bluffton. Bring your camera & walk the grounds. It's a small church. You can also go inside. There is a small trail from the parking area at the church that leads to a public dock thats located right on May River.

This historic church (built 1854) is worth a visit, not least because the building is attractive and the longleaf pine construction is quite unusual. Admission is free, though donations are welcomed. The history of this church is fascinating. The docent who led our brief guided tour was friendly and very knowledgeable. If you have time, walk down to the nearby... More

Pleasantly viewed the church and the people who give you the history of this church also gives you a magnificent history lesson of the area as well. Truly dedicated personnel and extremely inviting. Enjoyed it greatly!
