Spring Island is difficult to get onto. We went for the Spring flower/herb sale. While there we drove around admiring the beautiful homes and stumbled on the old tabby links (houses and outbuildings made of tabby - mud, cement and shells). If you can get onto the island it is a wonderful place in history. Located on the marsh with... More

Spring Island is so private that you can't even visit without an invitation from a resident. Luckily, my cousins live there so we were pleased to visit the Island. The Old Tabby Links golf course is truly lovely. It's difficult in places, but not so impossible as to make poorer golfers feel they can't play it. The Island itself is... More

Third time through this tract, first since it was remodeled 2013/14. The drive in through the old oak forest sets the tone. Moss hangs everywhere, fox squirrels abound and you get glimpse of the old plantation ruins that the course gets it's name from. The clubhouse and gift shop are little jewel boxes and the staff couldn't be nicer. If... More

This is a track thats hard to get on, expensive, and very isolated, but most importantly worth the drive the cost and effort to get a tee time...The place has been closed for awhile going through some updates and improvements...hard to imagine what that could be it was darn near perfect before for a links type course. I would rate... More

Nice course, very well maintained. The tee boxes feel like artificial turf, but are actually grass so thick you'd think it was fake. Very few homes on the course make it feel preserve like, and it's quite likely you'll see deer or other wildlife along the way. Recently redone, it is a nice round of golf.

If you can find a way to play Old Tabby, jump at it! This Arnold Plamer design is true Low Country style, with live oaks, marshes, and wildlife that will be unforgettable! This place is private...exclusive...special! Old Tabby should be on every serious golfer's bucket list.
