Normal tourist type items for sale. Some local specialties but nothing that said take me home, It was clean as compared to say the New Orleans City Market

Great building which houses the market. The stall are great - displaying a lot of locally made goods. The only problem was that many stalls were almost identical.

There during Thanksgiving weekend and had unseasonably warm weather. We were able to stroll along the market, enjoy the talent and the lively energy. A scenic area with a nice Southern Charm.

December is a great time to visit Charleston and the City Market is a lovely stroll on a Saturday morning. I loved talking to a lady weaving sweetgrass baskets outside the 2nd stall, buying a print of Gullah life and all the local provisions. Things can be pricey. This market is more upscale than others I have visited- like New... More

If you are near the Charleston City Market it is definitely worth strolling through. Depending on what merchandise might captivate you it could occupy you for awhile or you might fly through quickly. Regardless it has interesting history.

Lots of high quality as well as inexpensive items from Jewelry to souvenirs. Can get through easily in an hour or less. Parking nearby is expensive but many carriage ride places offer free parking with purchase of a ride so great to combine together.

This makes a nice addition to a visit to Charleston. Lots of vendors, many local artisans with beautiful hand-woven Gullah baskets.

I wouldn't cater my day around the market. It has many vendors that sell cute items from hand made straw baskets to shoes. It is right off of king street so might as well stop by the area to browse around. I don't regret going but it really only took is 15 minutes to browse around.
