This house was owned by the Heywards, but has the name because George Washington visited there. It's located right downtown and within walking distance from most hotels. It has some beautiful architecture, including the kitchen in the back. The furniture are all antiques, but the...More

We got a special event ticket through the Charleston Museum for a private tour with the director. It started in the 'back yard' of the home for wine and cheese. We thoroughly enjoyed all the great information and access to the garden after the tour....More

Ann Thomas gave us a complete and personal tour of this gorgeous double construction home. She is an elegant native of Charleston so the tour reflected her love of the home, history, and the city.

We arrived a little early for the tour, but were told we could explore the kitchen and garden in the back on our own. I found the kitchen gadgets fascinating. My husband was amazed at the number of people needed to operate the household "back...More

Older Colonial era house to tour. Loved the history and historic furniture in the house. We have toured several times and very worth seeing!

We enjoyed this tour due to the informative guide. Need to be able to climb stairs. Beautiful furniture and yard. Enjoyed the slave quarters that are in the back yard.

First, yes George Washington slept here. He slept in plenty of places. Coming from further north that doesn't impress me the way it might others especially when his home is just 20 minutes away from where I live. The house itself is basic federal style-...More

The Heward-Washinbgton House was very interesting. The Dosan was very interesting and made the tour very good. The restoration of the home is good and the whole experience gives one an idea of how the wealthy lived in the 1700's in Charleston.

The outside grounds are self-guided and took approximately 30 min. The guided tour of the home was about an hour.
