I am so glad my husband and I visited here to learn about the history of Charleston and this place! Carolyn gave a wonderful and informative tour of the provost dungeon. I highly recommend you stop here if you are in the Charleston area.

This was an amazing stop while we were visiting Charleston! 3 floors of what "Charlestown" was like and a special dungeon tour. Gorgeously restored and open there are many stories and artifacts to see and learn about.

I learned much about Charleston when it was still Charles Town, about the pirates of that day, the building itself, and a little about the tea party & more. Good history lesson.

You need a couple of hours to do the Old Exchange justice. The entrance fee of $10 is worth it. It's two floors of paintings, memorabilia, artifacts, reproductions, and lots of texts to read that highlight how the slave auctions worked, why rice and indigo...More
