For $5 dollars this is a visit you can't afford to miss - if you are interested in Civil War history and the history of the secession. Not only does the museum have a large collection of flags, swords, and other articles of the day to day life of the Civil War soldier, but it also has a huge number... More

I was very impressed with the amount of artifacts and other civil war memorabilia on display. The staff were very helpful with any question and provided extensive knowledge on a variety of history in the area.

When I went to Charleston it was pouring rain so it was a perfect day to go to a museum. The Confederate Museum is worth checking out. It's really like going to a military antique shop except you can't buy anything, or take pictures. The have a lot of really interesting artifacts like a lock of Robert E. Lee's hair.... More

Worth a trip to this small museum stuffed to the gills with memorabilia from the Civil War. The collection should be in a "proper" museum as it is fading/losing integrity as a result of improper storage techniques. Which is a shame as there are real treasures here. The staff are welcoming and will share all information they have but you... More

The building was very beautiful. The biggest doors I have ever seen. Lots of period articles in the museum. Since it was raining it was a little dark but they gave us a flashlight to read the cards with. The ladies are friendly and answered our questions.

This museum is located directly above the Charleston City Market. The docents there are extremely knowledgable about the relics contained within, and just about any questions you have regarding the Confederacy of the Old South, they will be more than happy to provide you with a detailed explanation of them.

Good collection of swords, flags, and memorabilia. Many pieces have interesting articles written about them.

This very small museum, perched above the Market, is jam-packed with a variety of interesting artifacts, many of which have seemingly been handed down through generations of families. Some things I have never seen anywhere else! The museum and its exhibits provide a fascinating view into an important era of U.S. History, as well as a very human perspective of... More

This had some great examples of Civil War Artifacts and was well presented for self guided tours. We would recommend it.

I get the feeling these guys don't want to be racist but the owner clearly wants to rewrite history. History-look it up. To get a great in depth history of SC and the slave issue read the History of Beaufort. 3 volumes but really great.
