We went on this tour with Adventure tours & you travel along the water in little train like cars pulled by a tractor. The driver is so knowledgeable about the plant & animal life.

Among the endless numbers of places to see in Charleston, the Audubon Swamp Garden offers beautiful scenery which is permanent--trees etc. and other scenery that changes by the minute--egrets, butterflies, cranes...even an alligator or two. Don't miss it.

beautiful swamp area and the bird rookery was outstanding. However finding things was not easy and they need better signs so one can have a better idea where they are going. Seeing alligators in their natural habitat is a plus and the egrets and herons...More

With large sections of board walk and smooth trails, it provides access to a swamp ecosystem that wouldn't otherwise be accessible. We saw hundreds of large birds nesting.

The weather did not cooperate. Windy and cold. Not a real swamp as no flowing water, but definitely work the visit.

This is such a peaceful, beautiful place. We stopped here for about 2 hours on our way home to NC from Charleston. Seeing Cyprus trees that were over 1,000 years old was amazing. I wish we could have come earlier in the morning, though, because...More

Nothing was blooming, but the birds were building nests and the alligators were out sunning themselves. If you have never been in a swamp, the board walks make this an easy way to see one.

First time visiting and I loved it. It's beautiful and calming. I wish you could just pay to visit this instead of paying for Magnolia and this additionally. But either way I loved it. Side fact: Wes Craven's Swamp Thing was filmed here.

This is a beautiful walk, but it's unremarkable as swamp boardwalks go and the serenity is occasionally interrupted by the narrated tour driving through and military planes flying overhead. If you're out bird-watching, you'll likely see some species here you didn't see at Magnolia Gardens....More

The Audubon Swamp Garden is within the grounds of Magnolia Gardens and is an additional cost. We saw lots of Spanish Moss (not Spanish nor moss actually) on the trees as well as plenty of wildlife. Including alligators!

Yes, they are! One baby gator was just a few feet from the trail, I stood and stared at it for a long time wondering if it was real. When it blinked I knew it was and moved along.

No, you have to pay the entry fee for the garden and also pay to add-on a ticket to get into the Swamp Walk. They will give you a code to gain access to the walk.

When I was there, the sucker got my toe! But it was my fault because I was gnawing on some jerky and a little piece fell onto my foot! Don't make the same mistake that I did!!!
