Totally enjoyed the Tommy dew's Walking tour. It is a History Tour and that is what we wanted. He makes it very easy to follow and really gives the historic tour, not just who lived where. Goes back to the beginning and how and why it evolved like it did. We went on a Sunday at 11 and at least... More

Chose this tour based on recommendation of concierge. So glad we went with Tommy Dew. Tommy was a most hospitable and informative guide. He gave a great tour and, more importantly, a history and sociology lesson from a Southern perspective...something quite lacking in textbooks of northern schools, but no less important. The two hours flew by. Thank you Tommy!

With all the available tours of Charleston available "free," walking, carriage, house tours, ghosts... we chose Tommy Dew. A native of Richmond and 16 year Charleston transplant, Tommy's tour is purely from the southern perspective. He walks you through the city explaining the historic sites with a huge dose of History. Did you know that Charleston was bombarded with cannon... More

Tommy's tour was so interesting and engaging we signed on for a second day. Tommy brings history alive and left us wanting to read more about the Revolution and the Civil Wars. Tommy was excellent in providing additional perspective to what we've read in history books. Tommy is a warm, funny, bright guide that gave us a wonderful introduction to... More

Tommy was the guy everyone recommended so we scheduled as soon as we could which happened to be our second full day; we wish we had done it the first, but we were so glad we did it early in the trip. You learn so much and Tommy is super entertaining! Great, great day!

Our family of four adults have returned to our respective homes in New York and California but we can't stop talking about how much we learned about the South from Tommy Dew. From the start, Tommy engaged us with his knowledge of Charleston history, covering any topic that might interest a visitor: culture, foods, politics, architecture, and more. There just... More

Reservations were easily arranged. Instructions were clear for meeting. Tommy was very personable and welcoming to Charleston. He shared a variety of interesting history and encouraged questions which he fielded with ease. Our group of eleven seemed engaged for the full 2 hours. I heartily recommend this tour!

Tommy was very informative, fun, easy with questions and gave us a real look at the history Charleston. We learned about everything from the roots of different accents, that Charleston used to be a walled city with a moat and the changes landscape of the city.

Mr. Dews did a fantastic job of giving us Charleston's history in a very thought provoking way! We all learned so much about the early history of Charleston! My friends and I took the tour, but I feel this would be an excellent tour for teenagers and tweens! If you are going during the summer or when the weather is... More

My fiancé and I were originally going to do a carriage tour of Charleston, but after a strong recommendation from our concierge, we opted to do a walking tour with Tommy Dew. Tommy’s tour was great, but Tommy, the man, was even better. Let’s start with the tour. Despite the hot weather, we never felt like things dragged on. Tommy... More
