I have been to state park several times and usually for walk. Been in Cheraw for a year and observed families enjoy BBQ or swimming. Few of friends have done kayaking and they said it's fun. But I like to come here for a walk...More

You have to play this course. It is extremely well maintained, rarely crowded and very reasonably priced. It also has good food and a decently stocked pro shop. Located about 30 minutes north of Hartsville.

I am interested in bringing a group of 50 college students to Cheraw State Park in the fall, hopefully staying at Camp Juniper. I'm worried that there will not be enough to do at this park to keep us busy for the weekend. I saw a lot about the golf course, but we wouldn't be golfing. We would take advantage of the hiking trails, are they well maintained and extensive? Besides canoeing/kayaking on the lake and the trails, are there any other amenities/activities such as a volleyball court or such? Thanks!

The hiking is a little lacking (one main trail and only a 1 or 2 mile loop I think), but the kayaking and canoeing are great. There is a beach and nice Vb court.
