Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to nearly 2,000 animals that represent more than 350 species from around the world. A visit to the Zoo will play host to an array of wild adventures from a diving expedition on a Pacific coral reef to a safari through the plains of Africa to an interactive Outback encounter with a flock of sociable lorikeets.

The Botanical Garden boasts 70-acres of unparalleled beauty and is considered one of the America's best public gardens. Dramatic and themed gardens showcase more than 4,300 species of native and exotic plants, providing a living classroom for gardeners and non-gardeners alike.

The Garden also is the gateway to natural river views and spectacular valley overlooks. In addition, guests can view structural remains dating back to the early 1800s with South Carolina's textile industry and the Civil War.

The light display was lovely and extensive. We were not able to see very many animals, which disappointed our grandsons; furthermore, the climbing wall and other special adventures were not open. But Santa's Village was cute, and the boys enjoyed writing letters to Santa. All in all, a fun outing.

Visited the zoo with my wife, daughter and her grandparents for the zoo lights. The displays were scattered around all of the walking paths. Many were themed after animals, some changed colors and patterns. Christmas music could be heard throughout the park. As their website indicated most animals were off exhibit for the evening (the lights ran 5-9pm). We still... More

My husband and I have been to many zoos and this one was a wonderful favorite after our first trip. I love that some of the exhibits are more engaging than other zoos and my neice was able to see the animals more up close. The kangaroos exhibit is one you can walk through with no fence between you and... More

A very nice zoo. It has lots of activities for kids. It is an easy place to see in a day long visit. Been to lots of other zoos including Brookfield Zoo in Illinois. Not on same scale but very nice.

Suprisingly large zoo with a lot to do. Be sure to check out the gardens across the river. Lots of things for young as well as older kids to enjoy.

We had not been to the zoo in a few years. We were so impressed with the updates and as always, the zoo is kept in tip top shape. The animals are well cared for and the grounds are lovely. The photo opportunities are plentiful. Even the gift shop personnel were kind, helpful and accommodating. We are never disappointed when... More

Beautiful zoo..Animals are very well taken care of and have great habitats. Zoo is medium size and takes about 3 to 4 hours to go through. Admission price is very reasonable and well worth what you pay. Great place to visit for all ages..

We had a wonderful day at the zoo, excellent variety of wildlife and lots of things for the children to do. I really liked the new sea lion exhibit, bright and airy and views from many angles.the day I was there the Lions were posing for pictures and the bears were playing and relaxing. All in all it was a... More
