Went to visit USS Yorktown and happened upon the Ballistic Submarine Cold War Memorial. It is a great free monument to see and all the plaques and benches around it. A must see!

When visiting the Patriots Point Naval Museum it would be easy and normal to miss this memorial while concentrating on the big ships. I found it fascinating and sobering to walk around and read the plaques. I was in the Canadian military when the Thresher...More

Visited here 11/2016 and went aboard the Yorktown (aircraft carrier) which was very similar in nature to the Midway which is in San Diego. Went aboard the Clagmore (submarine) and it was very interesting to see how confined these subs were. Then we boarded the...More

Nicely put together and well represents the men who have served our submarine force. Plaques and dedications for the subs and crew who are gone but not forgotten.

I had , in the past, been inside a WW2 submarine. I did not go inside this one. The USS Yorktown is moored next to the sub. I had not been on a carrier. My wife and I went up the long ramp and went...More

This mocked sub is only shown turret structure only above ground. Display is not in water. The best part is this is outside and totally free.

Well done memorial inspired by the days when subs and their crews used to be based here. Conning tower and tail are sticking out of the ground, while the grassy mound represents the sub hull. Gives you a good idea of the size and dimensions...More

Right across from Patriots Point is a small park with the cold war submarine and other items. There are plaques that describe what they are about. The best thing is that it is free. Plan about 15 minutes to view.

Its one of those places that people are a little confused. A memorial to the Cold War. Submariners were on a Cold Front Line. Rather fitting such a memorial is placed at Patriots Point well done.
