We wanted to see more of the Charleston area, so we drove the short distance to Mt. Pleasant. This national historic site is located between Patriots Point and Boone Hall. This site only requires about an hour. They show a 15 minute video of Pinckney's biography and his public service career. I never realized that a lot of his proposals... More

You probably don't know who Charles Pinckney was. I didn't until I visited Charleston, South Carolina. Pinckney was a principal author and signer of the U.S. Constitution. Today, he is recognized as a "Forgotten Founder" of the historic document that generally is associated with George Washington, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay. But Pinckney played a significant role in... More

Nice historical museum of the Charles Pinckney house and ground that is maintained by the National Parks Service. Nicely maintained and scenic. Very educational.

I absolutely love history and particularly American history. This is located right next door to the Boone Plantation. So if you're heading there, you should definitely stop by. The Ranger was extremely kind and knowledgeable. I do want to say that this house isn't the house that Mr.Pickney lived in, but it's an historic house built after he lived on... More

We visited here after visiting Ft Moultrie and the ranger there recommended it. My 9 year old daughter did the junior ranger program. We learned a bit about SC history and the Pickney family we didn't know. So it was a good visit.

Some great history, beautiful grounds, but for me a peaceful place for a cup of Joe, or lunch. If you need some tranquility, it's your place.

This is a great place to visit while in the area. Very different from Boon Plantation across the street. It was almost lost to a new subdivision. The fire hydrants can be seen on the plantation grounds.

This was a very interesting site to visit because of its political history which I was unaware of. This made Charleston known for its wealthy landowners and the patriotic initiative of one of the participants of the Declaration of Independence.

I found this historic site very interesting. Lots of details written about him and his life. Also exhibits explaining his participation in the founding of our country. Visiting here doesn't take long and can be easily done in an hour. It's all self guided but exhibits are interesting and easy to read. Would be interesting to any person who likes... More

I really like visiting historical sites and this one ranks up there with the best. It's a self tour so you can take your time looking around. There's a lot of nature to view and the place is kept in immaculate condition. It was very peaceful and the vegetation is amazing. One draw back is the amount of mosquitos (I... More
