My pregnant wife and I were in a pinch for parking on our vacation when the condo we were renting from did not allot enough parking passes, but Grand Strand Vacations generously allowed us to park at their office. I’m looking forward to being their client some day.

If you have not been to Myrtle Beach and the entire SC Grand Strand then you are missing a special treat. So much has been done to update and improve the MB proper town area and their are many attractions for young and old. If you only want to spend time on the beach, you will find some of the widest beaches on the East Coast. Make sure you also visit Barefoot Landing, Broadway At the Beach, Market Common, and the MarshWalk at Murrells Inlet when you visit here.

At one time Myrtle wqs as inexpensive alternative to many beach areas. That is far from the case now. Anything you buy, you have to add their 10.5% tax on. Parking in the last two years, went from free to $3.00 an hour. Even the car show that used to be free is now $15.00 to get into. They are adding an outlandish amount of new housing and the traffic is horrendous. The governing bodies are greedy as they can get and it ain't getting any better.

This review is really an overview of dozens of others.
The Grand Strand extends from Little River to Pawleys Island; including numerous communities and beaches, encompassing thousands of resorts, hotels, restaurants, shops, attractions and all that goes into servicing a popular tourist destination.
We've been coming here for several years, staying 3-4 weeks at a time.
Though we have numerous favorite options in all the above mentioned categories; there is always more to explore.
We enjoy coming off-season, when the atmosphere is much more relaxed; crowds are minimal, lodging costs are lower, restaurants are easier to access and the beaches are more peaceful.
We know not everyone prefers, or can arrange, this time table; but for those who can, the Strand is quite Grand.

The Grand Strand is a 50 mile playground extending from the South Carolina border at Little River to Pawley's Island, full of beautiful beaches, warm water, history, beautiful scenery, great BBQ and seafood and loads of things to do. We have discovered Surfside Beach and love that the water temperature is already 82 degrees in mid to late June.

Using the paved walkway to the grand strand we saw several homeless people. Some were naked and I saw others harassing other tourist. Did not feel safe. Kept looking around behind us On the other side of the businesses on ocean blvd Gangs of rowdy youth blocked sidewalks and showed rude and aggressive behavior. Been coming here since 1978. This will be the last trip here for us.

There is always something to do in Grand Strand. My wife and I enjoy strolling on the boardwalk. Our child of course loves to hit the various shops and spend our money. It has grown over the years.

Is there a designated parking area for the Grand Strand area?
Are there faucets or stations where we can wash off sand?

There are many parking areas and as you drive down the main road you will notice areas designated for parking. Some have showers and others do not, but showers are plentiful. Bathrooms are a little harder to find, but they all seems to be a part of the parks dept so they are maintained. Some even have showers inside with changing areas. Take plenty of water and sunscreen and if you plan on spending a few hours or more, an umbrella or shade for the kids is HIGHLY recommended.

They have restaurants and maybe a couple of night clubs. My preference are the nights clubs at Broadway at the Beach. "The strip" or "grand strand" is not my favorite place. I usually only go there if I'm with people who have never been so they can say they have been. I love the outdoor concerts they do in the park in the summer. Skywheel is a waste of money.

Bay View is clean/secure and a great location. Show are a drive north. If going to Broadway at Beach, public transportation is only $2.00 and they can get you there and back in case you want a adult beverage.
Where is restaurant row?

Without getting into exact details. It's about the area where Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach meet.

Does anyone know if the shops have beach chairs? And if so, about how much they run? I am unable to travel with one, and have heard the prices to rent one are steep.

Depending on how long you are staying there. It saved us money to just go to walmart, buy one and leave it for the next person. We were there 6 days and buying one was cheaper than renting. If you rent an umbrella/chair combo at the lifeguard stands on the beach, its 30.00 a day. Buying our own for about 20.00 each was cheaper than 180.00. There is a rental company called Lacks, but we didn't get prices from them. We just got home and had a wonderful time. I know you will too....
I love animals and respect the sanctity of wildlife. I am curious and intrigued by the possibility of this experience...is it safe for the animals to have all this contact with people?
