When you come to the Grand Strand for fun in the sun and waves, don't neglect your inner self. Seek some calm in the beauty of this art museum located in a restored 1920's beachfront house. Although small, the museum has a permanent collection and ten named galleries. Art classes look inspiring. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. The... More

I had read about this sight in my AAA booklet and found that the description did not do it justice. The villa had once belonged to the Cannon family in the 1920's and passed on to another family. When the city wanted to demo, ish the building, private citizens organized to have it physically moved to its present location. We were... More

Excellent exhibit. Very well put together. The presentation of this exhibit was very touching and well thought out. Based on the Gees Bend quilters of Alabama from the 1930's. Would highly recommend

I went to see the display of the Ladies of Gee's Bend's quilts. They also have a very interesting museum Store.. And a classroom on the second floor. You can check their schedule for upcoming events. There is also a lovely enclosed sun porch to sit in to take a rest and have tea.

We were fortunate to find this beautiful museum on our last day in Myrtle Beach. The textiles on display were outstanding, both from an artistic and historical standpoint. We were welcomed warmly as we arrived and again in the charming tea room. The gift shop alone was worth the visit! Don't miss this lovely stop in the Mrytle Beach area.

It was our last full day and it was raining. We knew we wanted to go to the museum, and the weather created the opportunity. This is a free museum that had a great exhibit about the Gee's Bend Quilts. Such history is tied to these quilts that have also been rendered as prints. Attractive gift shop, as well.

I recently paid my first visit to the Myrtle Beach Art Museum to see the quilt display from the ladies of Gee's Bend, Alabama. This exhibit which continues for a few more weeks is not only a display of the quilts as works of art, but gives one a glimpse into the lives of the quilt makers. The museum is... More

The displays change often, but this is definitely a must see. There is no fee to enter, but they do accept donations. We probably spent about an hour there. If you have an hour to spare you should definitely stop by.
