First, we both love good museums and take our time when visiting. This museum does a great job explaining the history of the Port Royal/Beaufort area (including Parris Island). Lots of artifacts including and as you might expect, lots of weaponry. This museum offers so much more than just the history of the Marines on Parris Island. The museum was... More

The PI Museum has something for everyone. Lots of history and a very patriot place. The people greeting us were kind and very helpful. Free event for all.

Didn't realize that you can actually visit the entirety of Parris Island! Growing up in the south, have always known about Parris Island and had a morbid curiosity - it's actually quite fascinating for someone who has never been on a military base - just like a midget city - only with better amenities!! We could actually watch the recruits... More

We had the good fortune to visit on Family Day when the museum was crowded with happy families and new Marines enjoying a five-hour liberty and looking forward to graduation the next morning. Combat veterans and other Marines of long standing were stationed at various places in the museum to meet and greet, answer questions and serve as needed. It... More

Great place to visit. Very interesting. Didn't take more than an hour. Would suggest going on a day other than Family Day since it was pretty busy and not much room to move around. The gift shop was packed but they did have things in there that you couldn't get in The exchange...worth the visit!

I was inspired to go here because of having seen Full Metal Jacket a million times while growing up, and it's an experience to go here. You have to pass a military checkpoint before entering, which can feel intimidating, but they just check your ID and ask you the purpose of the trip. Being on the base is a little... More

I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and objectivity of this museum. The exhibits were informatively and attractively presented in chronological order. As well as a history of the USMC, there was a brief exhibit outlining the history of the indigenous peoples from the paleolithic period to the arrival of Columbus. Loved the artifacts, including the actual uniforms and accessories.... More

I stumbled across this museum making my way to the Charlesfort-Santa Elena National Historic Landmark. If you have the time, it's definitely worth your time to tour the marine history exhibit.

The history is amazing. Parris Island is gorgeous, lots of marines and we were there two days before graduation. Lots of families. The Museum is a must see. Great history, artifacts, original print of Joe Rosenthal's photo.

We had about and hour to kill while waiting on graduation, so we opted for the museum. After having been to the USMC museum at Quantico, this does not even come close in comparison, but it was nice. It is quite tight and hard to get around with so many families in there but they had nice exhibits and they... More
