The fort has existed for over 200 years. The museum is a small introduction to a large fortified area. Outside is a large area for families to explore. The 30 minute presentation is a helpful orientation. Behind the fort, over the dune is beach. Lots...More

Nice fort with a local history. A great way to spend an hour or two. How the fort changed over time and effected the local history. Go look for yourself.

We weren't sure what to expect here but we like exploring forts and other historically important locales so this fit the bill. We didn't see the movie but checked in and went off to explore. Huge guns, expansive fields of fire, and plenty of photo...More

Our boys (9 & 11) loved this place. The fort covered lots of ground and you could go down inside to see displays of what things looked like during WWII. As you take the tour you go back in time through the forts long history....More

Spend a day or an hour here. Beautifully grounds. Start your tour with the 22 minute video inside the main building to gain a unique perspective of the Fort's history. Follow the self guided tour signs afterwards for a walk back through history.

The history here is very interesting to us retired teachers. Maybe a few others. The young were more interested in the beach and its waves and views. Many people with dogs and bikes were out.

If you are taking your own boat then it shouldn't be a problem, the issue you may have is if you take the harbor boat over. It is more thane a 2 hour boat ride round trip and even though the dog would be allowed on the fort... More
