This ais a gret tour and our tour guide (Hannah K) was great. She made the tour amazing with all her knowledge and whit. It is pretty amazing to be in caverns that have existed for so long. Learning our the areas and how the caves were discovered was quite fascinating. The other Staff were all very nice and personable.... More

I've been to many types of caverns all over the world and most are worth seeing. This is not one of them. It does have some crystal deposits but at some point this was also the entrance to a mine. The many blasts of powder have covered all the crystalline formations with a thick coat of dust and dirt and... More

Took the hour long tour and really glad we did. Our guide was excellent, informative as well as humorous making it a very enjoyable tour. If you have trouble with stairs this may not be for you as you must go up/down over 200 steps as you go about 225 deep into the cave. Also gets a little chilly the... More

We stopped at Black Hills Caverns on our way out of Rapid City. What an experienced! There are two options available; One is a shorter tour and one is longer. You descend into a real cavern, full of stalagmites and stalactites and authentic miner's equipment and markings. There is also a hands-on "pannIng for treasures " experience for the kids.... More

The cave was pretty neat and I don't think that it was too overpriced. I would classify this as an average attraction. It is not a strenuous tour but does require you do duck almost constantly if you are of average height. The only negative thing that I would have to say is that our tour guide was a teenager... We took the longer tour and didn't find it to be physically challenging except for having to duck a lot! The guide was awesome, full of knowledge and quick wit.

Black Hills Caverns is very close to town which makes it convenient. We were the first tour of the morning so it was a smaller group which made it more enjoyable we think. It is a lot of walking on the long tour and it's best to wear slip proof shoes ie: tennis shoes. Our tour guide was very informative... More

We had to stop by the shop at the cave entrance because they have such fun items. I couldn't believe it was the same place. They have done a beautiful job renovating both the outside & the inside. They have a whole new line of kid's clothes, tee-shirts, & PJs. I got a wonderful maroon long nightie with a moose... More
