We took our kids here in the 70's as locals. Now bringing them and their little ones back to share the experience. Not disappointed. Lots of steps if that is an issue. Park is free but a little off the beaten path. Wonderful vistas.

Good views of the city and some nice educational displays. Good lower Cretaceous and Jurassic geology outcrops.

We went up the long scenic way which is a little scary.... once there the view was good the dinosaur was great. The gift shop had good prices. Worth the 30 minute visit.

The dinosaur just serves as a landmark. The real point is the near-360 degree view of Rapid City. Closed late at night unfortunately; cops make rounds up there.

We went on a very hot day, so maybe I was just grumpy. But lots of stairs to climb and not handicap accessible. I know the statues are old, so if you like nostalgia then it's great. But these were to big to play on....More

This park was built in the 1930s, but has been updated and well maintained. Animals are all painted concrete and nicely done. "Dippy" the dinosaur is on top of the hill and can be seen from all parts of the city. Top of the hill...More

That steep winding road everyone is mentioning also really doesn't have a shoulder. I have walked it before, but you need to be careful. The steep turns mean cars can't always see you coming.

It is like a regular city park. You park in the parking lot of the gift shop, walk across the street and up the hill to see the dinosaurs. You can probably go when you like but I would think it would be "closed" when the... More
