The actual-size stone outline of the battleship South Dakota laid out on the ground, with various ship artifacts in their appropricate places, gives a sense of the scale of this century-old technology. A good 30 minute stop, worth a detour.

After seeing on the website that the facility was not open until Memorial Day Weekend, I did not plan this into our vacation. But when we saw the sign, we took a chance and am so glad we did. There are only pieces of the...More

This is a great museum to spend an hour or so and give kids (and adults) a little bit of history, education and appreciation for the greatest generation. The outside guns and ship outline provide great scale of the ship size and the inside museum...More

No charge to enter museum which is packed with many donated personal items from servicemen. The memorial is an outline of the battleship with lots of green space to walk around and stretch your legs. We stopped here on our way home from the Dakotas....More

They have some great artifacts and very cool pieces to display from the ship, WWII and Japan. Worth the stop, free admission.

Outside there is an outline of the Battleship and a few other items from the ship. The museum took about 30 minutes to look through.

This has the best little museum with great pieces of history, from pictures to weapons to uniforms. The framework of the Battleship is to scale and the anchor and chain is massive.

We stopped here briefly during our time in Sioux Falls. We did spend some time outside looking at it and reading the plaques, but we went in mid April and the museum was not open yet on the inside. Great for anyone interested in history....More

Interesting to see the boat upclose not just from the street, also interesting to see all the different eras and types of military services were available and on display.

This is good place to get a perspective of a WWII battleship at least in the middle of the prairie. There is an outline of the dimensions of the deck and then the big gun barrels where they would be. There is a small museum...More

How much does it cost to visit the ship? is there a size limit for tight spots? what about disabled vets? are there a lot of steps?

Oh it is not a complete ship. It is parts of the ship reassembled to the shape of the ship. It is by no means the big complete ship, but everything there is very interesting and educationa. No steps that you have to climb... More
