Known as “America’s Most Amazing Mile,” The Incline’s trolley-style cars climb through the natural beauty surrounding historic Lookout Mountain at a breathtaking 72.7% grade – straight up! Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenic views of the mountains and valleys from the observation windows on the train as well as the panoramic views from the observation tower at The Incline’s top station. And while you’re up top, be sure to visit the many points of Civil War interest, the Battles for Chattanooga Electric Map & Museum and Point Park, part of the Chickamauga -Chattanooga National Military Park system, just a few short blocks from the Incline top station. Then, after you descend back down to the Incline bottom station, explore historic St. Elmo, where a wonderful collection of unique shopping and dining experiences await you.

I don't know why anyone would rate this less than 5 stars! It was so cool! At one point the incline looked like it was straight up! Our 14 year old loved it! Definitely a must in Chattanooga!

How can you not do the Incline Railway while in Chattanooga? Good for all ages. I recommend walking a couple blocks to the civil war park at the top of the mountain, not amazing but definitely worth it while you're up there.

While its kind of a neat ride, I would not go again. It had long lines to get back on the ride and wasn't air conditioned.

I've been on the cog railroad at Pikes Peak and this is a mini version of it. Great views but a short ride of only 10 minutes to the bottom. Ice cream shop there and gift shop back at the top. Nice distraction between work...More

Great for all ages (as long as you don't have a fear of heights). It's a ten minute ride in either direction and when you get to the top you can easily walk to Pointe Park and visit the Chicamauga National Park and Museum or...More

A nice little train ride up Lookout Mountain. I visited when I was a little kid and it has stayed with me. Visiting as an adult was still a good experience. The trip up/down is about 10 minutes each way. On the ride, u you...More

My son loved this incline. The reason for 4 not 5 rating is the wait times are way to long on a weekend but not sure anything can be done about that.

I had not been to the Incline since I was a child. It was more incredible then I remember. The views are breathtaking! This is a must when visiting Chattanooga. Make sure to look around at the top of Lookout Mountain.

The Incline starts running at 8:30 a.m. and that's when we were there. Go early in the morning to avoid lines and crowds. Our GPS directed us to the top of the incline instead of the bottom, which was fine. None of us in our...More

We parked up at the top near Point Park, took the Incline down & had lunch (Purple Daisy fabulous!), then took it back up again. Parking at top was easy & the meters were free when we were there a few weeks ago. But you can... More
