Did you know The designation of DUKW is not a military pun - the name comes from the terminology used for military vehicles in World War II; the D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles. Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.

Easy parking - $6 for all day. Great for kids (or all ages). Captain Dave ...the Splash...let all the kids take a turn driving. Enjoyed his stories about the city. After the hour ride, lots of restaurants in walking distance. Sticky Fingers for bbq, Cupcake...More

Thank Laurie H

Great time and would recommend if want something different to do than the main “tourist attractions”. We all enjoyed and learned something about Chattanooga history in a fun way! Great picture opportunities on water.

This was such a great tour to do while in Chattanooga! They say it is a combo of land & water, but the land part is really just a trip down to the river, but that’s fine, the river was the best! Very knowledgeable captain!...More

We had a great time and our guide was awesome. Our 5 year old had a wonderful time. She got to experience a boat ride and we got to experience a lot of historical knowledge.

No you don't get soaked. Occasionally when the wind is very strong from the west it can blow into the Duck. On those days the Captain will usually enter the water slower to reduce the "splash"

I just checked their website and it looks like they only have tours from March to October. You can give them a call to find out for sure.

It last close to an hour. Most of the visit is on the water with a short shuttle from their 'base' to the launch site. One suggestion . . .make sure you charge your devices to capture everything. Hope you enjoy!
