One of our favorite attractions in Chattanooga. Stop by the visitor center to see a breathtaking view of the TN River Gorge, and at the same time, learn about TVA (TN Valley Authority, a federal agency that provides hydro-electric power through its dams) and its...More

Beautiful view of the east side of the mountain. Then went to the view of the reservoir, it’s amazing, you hear no signs of civilization. Went to the visitor center, didn’t stay long, didn’t go on the trails due the rain rolling in. Even though...More

Free scenic drive and visitors center. This was a neat activity to educate my children. Also, you can view the wildlife.

We read about this in another Trip Advisor review, but it took a trip to the visitors center to find out how to get there. Don't get it confused with Raccoon Mountain Caverns. On a clear day, there is a great view from the East...More

We were driving around and found this by accident. Was very interesting. The attendant was very knowledgable and explained the history to us. She was very nice. wish I would have gotten her name.

The title Racoon Mountain Dam is a bit misleading as this is a man made lake up on top of a mountain!! I was just driving around today enjoying the mountain scenery and went on out to the Racoon Mountain pumped storage facility. I drove...More

Beatiful view from the top and no crowds. The maps of how big the TVA is and how the Raccoon Dam works to generate electricity was interesting.
