Quiet spot with a scienic drive with the sea on both sides of it to a nice small beach. Nice visit if your in the area in a rural setting. There is a lighthouse at the end of the road but there was signs up about being private property so didn't go that far

You can drive up to the lighthouse but the road is very narrow and hard to turn on. We did not get up close to the lighthouse.

The longest Peninsula in Ireland? Single track road - rutted in places - and NO passing places along the final mile - and only spaces for four cars in the small car park at the light-house end! Be prepared to reverse back and park "off-road" in a field (four wheel drive best). Final approach to the light-house must be made... More

I spent some time in St. John's Point in Donegal Ireland and cannot believe the peace and beauty that is found on that small peninsula. Everything is in harmony; the rolling hills, the sheep, the homes, the wind blown trees and the sea. This was my second visit. It was difficult to leave.

Not the best scenic drive. Only a lighthouse at end of a very rutted road. No access to lighthouse. Do not leave road as the area is a peat bog.

A narrow, winding road past a beach and through pastures ends with the lighthouse. The journey was much better than the lighthouse for us. We asked locals about driving over the pasture road and were told it was okay, "just don't let the alligators bite you".

Well worth the spin out for the panoramic views of Donegal bay. On a clear day the coastline of counties Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal can be enjoyed from the one spot. There is also a gem of a small beach for anyone interested in snorkeling about 1km before the lighthouse.

St John's Point is approximately 10Kms from the coast road at Dunkineely village, Co. Donegal. Its at the end of a long peninsula with winding and narrow roads. You will find ruins, farmland, rock platforms, small beach's and pier's and a lighthouse at the very end. There are places to park your car near coral beach and at the lighthouse.... More
