I have good memories of working on Burgh Island. Bit sad to see and then read of the "exclusiveness" of the hotel. It is a historical building and should be open to all.

We stayed at the hotel, and enjoyed the hotel bar at the pub. We spent a rainy afternoon enjoying the view of the beach, the great service and a nice drink! We will return.

Great ale. Felt a bit odd sitting in the hotel resident's roped off area. Not the best bar staff in the world - but hey.

Whilst the tide was out we visited The Pilchard Inn, it is very small, but loads of tables outside, wee bit disappointed to be given plastic glasses, amazing views kind of made up for them though !
