Have visited Burgh Island many times on holiday and always comment on the obnoxious snobbery associated with the pub, yet still return to eat and drink there! It really is Beautiful, everything about the island is gorgeous and I am rather partial to the crab...More

Went there recently at low tide - so no need for the sea tractor. The miserable, rude, dour, unwelcoming Scotsman (as mentioned in other reviews) seems to have moved on - or perhaps it was just his day off?! We just had a drink, which...More

Think of this as more of a bothy with a bar than a pub. It's tiny. No food menu but nice baguettes. Good beer and cider. It is there mainly for the hotel guests so day trippers will be disappointed it's not geared to appeal...More

Don't waste your time or money in the Pilchard! When It was actually open I was confronted by the most ignorant sour faced barman I've ever met! If he is an example of the staff at the Burgh Island hotel don't even think about staying...More

The Pilchard in is tiny and full of historical character, a real gem after a beach walk and a roam on the cliffs. Great crab baguettes and a novel way of string their crisps. There's a little fireside pub room for guests

Twice, while waiting - and waiting - to be served, I was ordered in a loud, aggressive tone to move from where I was standing, which was by the bar and where I had assumed customers were traditionally supposed to stand. In view of the...More

By booking only the Friday curry is a great night. The pub shuts and becomes the local curry house. A buffet of curries with all sides were offered. tasted great, good beers and excellent wines for a small pub.

The barman at the Pilchard Inn (only one serving at 1pm on 19th Sept) was horribly rude to everyone queuing up to buy their sad and soggy baguettes. He seemed to make it his business to answer in just 1 or 2 words - his...More

Terrible pub with a horrible barman, he was so rude, shouted at everyone and make everyone feel unwelcome. Be warned don't go to Burgh island unless you can walk there and back and don't need to eat, drink or use the toilet

Staff who simply could not care less serving very very average beer. They say that you can judge the owners by their staff and this place demonstrated that 100 percent. Truly awful attitude to customers!
