My wife and I were invited to join friends staying at Saunton Sands for lunch. A truely wonderful location overlooking a beautiful beach. The hotel is owned by the Brend Group who own many splendid hotels throughout Devon. The service could not be faulted and our food was first class. Certainly worth a visit when in Devon. Thank you.

The longest beach in the area, 5 miles between Saunton and Crow Point - a great walk on either a blowy day or a day of sunshine. And once you get past the first few hundred metres you've got the huge beach all to yourselves. I'm local and always recommend visitors to come here and to nearby Putsborough. Fantastic sunsets... Dog friendly all year. Big car park. Cafe and surf shop. Great for walking when the tide is out. The "sandy" part of the beach up against the dunes is very narrow, even more so when the tide is in. Car park is not well sign-posted from the Croyde direction; from Braunton OK.

Hard to be bettered in my opinion. Fabulous dog friendly stretch of sand backed by dunes. Great surf, safe and kept well, no kiss-me-quick paraphernalia, and very good café & restaurant, not to mention board & wetsuit hire. Love it!

Tucked away beach on the way to croyde. Ample parking and tea, coffee and snacks available. Especially good for the beginner surfer as the waves break slowly over the slow incline.

spend 2 afternoons on saunton sands - Families walked around croyde headland, then played on beach while parents took turns in sleeping and recovering from night before - when one child asked to go to the sea - it turned out to be the wrong answer to say yes - we did spot her with the luminous net half way... If your in the area, then a stroll along this beach as a must. This seems to be a firm favourite with the surfing community and it’s not hard to see why. Apart from the surf, the beach is backed with huge dunes and burrows which stretches for miles. All this with a stunning and rugged backdrop of north Devon... More
