This is a great resource. It’s a very well maintained asphalt track that runs from Lydford to Okehampton. There are great views to be had and it follows an disused rail line. So, unlike most of Devon, it’s nice and flat. Bear in mind that...More

Nice section of the National Cycle Route but......why on earth does the section between Okehampton and Lydford suddenly end from being tarmac to a track? This section isn’t suitable for a road bike unless you get off and walk the 100 odd meter section (glad...More

We cycled it - the surface is smooth and easy, as it is a disused railway line, and there are several viewpoints which would have given better views if the weather had been better.

You can make the walk/cycle ride as long or short as you please, mainly on the level. Some interesting views as well as some industrial history to see. Worth deviating off to the dam.

The Granite Way provides a safe off road cycle between Okehampton Station and Lydford, it is tarmac mostly with one short stretch gated on a dirt track through a wooded cutting. Some really good views of the moor and surrounding countryside over viaduct and under...More

We started at Bearslake Inn. There is a path up to the Granite Way from here. This part is off road. Slippery with lots of stones. More suited to a mountain bike. This takes 5 mins to walk up. Once on the Granite Way we...More
