We were recommended to go to this museum from a mother tourist attraction and am really glad we did. Run by prison officers and selling goods produced by prisoners, this is a museum telling the history of Dartmoor prison over the ages. Good parking and...More

A very interesting trip. It was only £3 to have a look around and we could bring the doggie for a walk around with us too, save him from being left in the car! We met a prisoner who was working in the little woodyard,...More

Interesting insight into life in one of Britain's most remote and notorious prisons. The museum is housed in the 639 inmate capacity prison's former dairy. I imagine the exhibits are a labour of love for somebody, but the museum's flow isn't entirely coherent and some...More

We revisited after quite a few years. Still as good as I remember. Lovely welcome from staff, ridiculously cheap for 2 adults and 2 children (we could also take the dog!!). Very interesting displays, plenty to look at. Would throughly recommend a visit.

I visited this museum with my elderly mother brother and it was extremely interesting. Lots of information, fascinating artefacts and helpful staff. There are steep stairs down to the lower level (& toilets) which mum struggled with. Some original present ideas in the small gift...More

I recently visited the Prison Museum and thoroughly enjoyed my time there although I do agree with some previous reviews that more could be made of it but we do not know the funding situation and what information can be released to the public. Many...More

This is well worth a visit very interesting and the history of the prison we all found fascinating plus the display of items that prisoners had made as weapons was an eye opener to life inside

I think your question should be directed to the museum as I like you, was a visitor although I didn't find distance to other end of village a problem. Sorry I can't really help more.

My initial answer would have been to look at the map and work it out yourself but we did experience some "interesting" conditions within the park this winter. Road by the prison was truly awash and best taken carefully. Many... More
