An easy, gentle 2.3 mile stroll from Exmouth along the eastern bank of the Exe Estuary, whose mudflats, sandbanks and marshes are of international importance for their wildlife, especially the tens of thousands of resident and migratory waterbirds. Look out for avocets, curlews and lapwings, even seals and otters, and buzzards wheeling overhead. Take time to explore Lympstone before catching the train back to Exmouth.

Easy walk on paved pathways along side the estuary/railway line, lovely views across the estuary. Good to continue walk to Topsham and return to exmouth by train.

This trail can be picked up a little way (five or so minutes) to the right, if you are facing Exmouth railway station. The entrance is on your left with the river on your left. There is a map showing the route all the way...More

Some great views of the River Exe anytime of the year, where you can walk, run, or bike ride. Best of all which ever way you walk etc, there is somewhere nice to have refreashments.

A good walk to built up your fitness. If your are unsure if you can manage both there and back, you can always take the train in one direction. Nice to see a ice-cream bicycle selling local ices on a hot day.
